The users of this edition ?now have a text which meets the high editorial standards of the Corpus Christianorum medieval series. (?) A concise preface offers a list of manuscripts, an evaluation of their relative merits and relationships, and a description of earlier printed editions; there are also short discussions of orthography, punctuation, and sources. (?) This should be tje definitive edition for many years to come, which makes regrettable Hall?s decision not to treat the manuscripts more fully. (?) The text is supported by helpful indices (authors, proper names, orthography). (?) Users of this new edition should keep a close eye on the apparatus criticus, for the editor seems to have a frightful predilection for conjectures. (?) For scholars in may areas of medieval studies, particularly intellectual history, the ?Metalogicon? is an indispensable work, and this edition will be received gratefully by them.? (RONALD E.
