'The Dictionary of the History of Science' is the first dictionary devoted to the history of scientific ideas. Organized alphabetically by concept, it contains more than 700 entries explaining the origins, meaning, and significance of the chief theories and ideas that have contibuted to the development of science, including medicine, mathematics, and human sciences.
The dictionary is extensively cross referenced and also contains an index listing all the scientists mentioned in the book with the entry headings under which they appear, so giving a concise profile of individual interests and areas of work.
