Under the title Academy. Learning from Art, the Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst Antwerpen is directing its attention to the question of how we can learn from art, i.e. how can we extend our concept of teaching and learning beyond the framework of formal training at academies? How can art itself become an environment from imaging/imagining things - i.e. the "world" - differently, and how does the process of imagining allow the museum to take its essentially pedagogical mandate to heart? This question shifts the focus of "academy" from the school as an institution per se to the perception of art as a guide and driving force in life.
