Zur Stellung des Adjektivs in der älteren griechischen Prosa. Die Motive der Voran- bzw. Nachstellung in ihren Hauptzügen. - BERGSON, L.,

KORTE INHOUD

'Bergson follows closely the method of procedure and the terminology used by Marouzeau in the relevant section of his work on Latin word order (L'ordre des mots dans la phrase latine. I: Les groups nominaux, Paris, 1922). (?) This is (?) a work of careful scholarship and balanced judgement. Both are particularly apparent in the first part of the book where specific examples are considered. Bergson quotes the passages in full and takes far more account of the context than Marouzeau does in the case of his Latin examples. His attempts to trace the different principles which influence the position of the adjective in these passages show great sensitivity for detecting delicate shades of meaning.' (H.LL. HUDSON-WILLIAMS in The Classical Review (New Series), 1963, p.181). From the library of the late Sir Kenneth James Dover.
