Centuries ago, the Maya developed a unique and magnificent culture. Their architecture, astronomy, complex writing and calendrical systems and their brilliant art forms still evoke a powerful response in our imaginations today. And yet, in the tenth century, in a way that has not yet been fully explained, the classic Maya civilization came to a sudden end.nnThe Maya themselves did not disappear, however.
