Studien zur Geschichte des Infinitivs im Griechischen. - AALTO, P.,

KORTE INHOUD

'He (Aalto) points out that in many Indo-European and non-Indo-European languages deverbative forms expressing purpose and consequence have developed into simple infinitives, and supposes that in the same way 'tou' with infinitive tended to acquire, alongside its final / consecutive use, the functions of a simple infinitive.' (D.M. JONES in The Classical Review (New Series), 1955, p.205). From the library of the late Sir Kenneth James Dover.
