'Marastoni has produced a preface enlightened by scholarship and a text that appears to make a real attempt to recover the manuscript tradiditon. This in itself is commendable; but the lack of a high literary quality is disappointing. A useful index of proper names that goes some way towards being a concordance concludes the volume.' (A.J.
