Process -

Design Drawings from Rijksmuseum 1500-1900

KORTE INHOUD

Process shows an extensive collection of design drawings, never presented before, of artefacts from the period 1500-1900 from the Rijksmuseum collection. The design drawings in this publication are presented from a design perspective. The focus is not so much on the provenance and attribution of the drawings (as was customary in the case of this type of drawing until now) but on the function of the drawing within the process of design and maker's practice throughout the centuries. This innovative categorisation was created after years of research by Professor Reinier Baarsen, senior curator at the Rijksmuseum, and provides a unique insight into the context in which the drawings were created.

Follow closely how the ideas for all kinds of objects came about, and meet the inventors, makers and patrons. Vases, chairs, clocks, stoves, sledges and carriages are shown from the first sketches in pencil to fully elaborated colourful presentation drawings.
