Peter Schlör - Knaus Bernhard

Deep black

KORTE INHOUD

Artist Peter Schl?r (?1964) made a name for himself around the world with his unique style of black-and-white photography. Landscapes empty of people, deserted houses and towns: Schl?r's work is about archetypes such as the tree, the river, or the house, which have been timeless, meaningful symbols for human beings of all eras and all cultures. Marked by powerful compositional austerity and a strong contrast between light and dark, Schl?r's images achieve a remarkable tension.nnBesides his individual photographs, Schl?r has recently concentrated upon series in which he pursues a disturbing game with perception. The motif often appears the same, yet in fact, Schl?r has altered his standpoint so subtly that it is often only apparent upon second glance.nnThe volume, which features over 130 plates of duplex quality, is the first to provide an overview of Schl?r's work from 1986 to the present.nnExhibition schedule: Kulturstiftung Schloss Agathenburg July 8-August 20, 2006 ?
