Aernout Overbeeke (1951, Utrecht) is al enkele decennia lang een succesvol mode-en reclamefotograaf, die bekendheid verwierf in binnen-en buitenland, in Europa en in de Verendigde Staten. Hij heeft gewerkt voor de grootste bureaus en tijdschriften, maar beïnvloed door Irving Penn, leeft hij zich echter vooral uit in zijn vrij werk. Daarin spelen zowel landschappen als mensen, en vooral de combinatie van beide, een hoofdrol. De tentoonstelling, waarbij dit boek de catalogus is, focust op de twee reizen die Overbeeke in 2002 en 2004 heeft onernomen naar Tanzania. De Afrikaanse natuur is bij Overbeeke ronduit prachtig, baadt in onvoorstelbaar mooi licht. Er gaat een oerkracht vanuit die tijdloos is. De oude Masaikrijger die de wolken lijkt te beheersen; de twee vissers onder de zwoele lucht; zebra's bij hun drinkplaats. Exhibition: Cobra Museum, Amstelveen (28.11.2010-9.1.2011).
