He has not only the technical equipment, but also the feeling for style that the task demands, and he writes so clearly and elegantly that his book makes most agreeable reading. (?) Long observes that Sophocles increased use of abstract nouns in his later work reflects a general development in Greek during his lifetime, and that some features of it are paralleled only in Thucydides and other contemporary prose writers.'
