A retrospective

KORTE INHOUD

Retrospective monograph on Julião Sarmento's complete body of work.

Julião Sarmento (*1948 in Lisbon) is one of the most significant Portuguese artists of his generation. He began exhibiting film, video, sound, painting, sculpture, installation and multimedia in the 1970s, but also developed several significant site-specific projects. Sarmento has exhibited his work extensively, both nationally and internationally.

This book features works from the late 1960s until the present. Heavily illustrated with all the works on display, the publication also includes a project developed by the artist in collaboration with writer James Salter specifically conceived for the book. It features small texts on some works by several art critics, artists and curators, a conversation between Sarmento and James Lingwood and an essay by João Fernandes, Museum Director and exhibition curator.
