Prince Ladislas from Poland (1595-1648) was a descendant of the Wasa
Dynasty and made, as was the custom then, a journey through Europe.
While this 'Grand Tour' gave a finishing touch to his education, it
also gave him the opportunity to introduce himself as the future king
of Poland to the other royal families of Europe. He also added a third
purpose to his 'Grand Tour' by starting an art collection.
