The number of people accessing care for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ADHD has increased dramatically over the past few decades. The aim of this book is to investigate if ADHD has a detrimental effect on the lives of individuals with ADHD. The purpose of the analysis is to better understand ADHD and the costs associated with ADHD whether those costs fall upon the individual or the state. The present book finds that Adults with ADHD are performingparticularly badly on a large range of measures within educational attainment, occupational status, income, family situation, criminal record, and health. This is the case when they are compared toindividuals with a similar background and upbringing, including their own siblings. The disorder is a major problem for many individuals and for society. For Adults with untreated ADHD, the private costs borne by the individual amount to more than 8,500 euros per year.
