The specific introductory note on 'Çlouds' is very short, (...), but it does offer some comments on both the principal problems of the play: the date and nature of the revision which Aristophanes made, and the relationship of the Aristophanic to the real Socrates. (...) The Greek text will naturally be compared with Dover's. There is a substantial number of differences. (...) On balance I do not find S.'s text better than Dover's. For the apparatus criticus, S. acknowledges help given by Dover. (...) For the most part his apparatus is much briefer than Dover's.
