Charles Rennie Mackintosh (7 June 1868 ? 10 December 1928) was a Scottish architect and designer and one of the best-known representatives of the Arts and Crafts movement. His father was a police officer and he spent his childhood in Dennistoun, a town near Glasgow. At 16, he joined local architect John Hutchison and attended evening classes at the Glasgow School of Art. In 1889 he started working for the architects Honeyman and Keppie.
