A renowned sculptor, installation artist, filmmaker, author and human rights activist, Ai Weiwei is contemporary China's most well-known and influential artist. His work has attracted international attention for its criticism of the Chinese government. Much of Ai Weiwei's work is a reflection of his own feelings of imprisonment, rage and powerlessness.
