The Lallans is so delightfully classical a language (I had not known this before) that it catches the neatness and sharpness of the Greek as our new Chicago or Minneapolis versions completely fail to do. I am so glad also that you have allowed metre to have its way. It is really needed, and without it, or with only adumbrations of it, one wonders where one is. The songs are most enjoyable ? lively and, as Gilbert Murray used to say, ?irresistibly songful.? Rhyme is a great help with this kind of song ? and you have used it with delightful effect.'
