?Walter Headlam left at his early death masses of material for an edition of Aeschylus, written for the most part in his tiny handwriting on the margins of three editions of Wecklein, and those on the Orestes have now been collected and edited with piety, discrimination and learning by Professor Thomson, who has added notes of his own, a verse translation and an introduction. (?) Headlam?s knowledge of Greek usage was in some ways unique, and his textual criticism masterly in method though sometimes over-daring; and mr Thomson shows himself a most accomplished disciple and editor. (?) Confining oneself to points of text and interpretation, one must first notice the excellent canter on textual questions in the Introduction. (?) Headlam?s commentary is full of observations of Greek usage Which will be helpful even to the most accomplished scholar; Mr Thomson has rendered an important service to Greek learning in rescuing such fine work from oblivion.?
