KORTE INHOUD

?This fine volume, the first of two containing the ?Questions ad Thalassium in the original Greek with John Scotus?s Latin version on facing pages, worthily continues the by now established tradition of excellence in the Belgian corpus. The present edition of the Greek is founded upon a far wider range of manuscripts that that known to Combefis for his edition of 1675 (?) which it now replaces; forty-four manuscripts are listed (?) and two families distinguished. (?) The Latin translation by John Scotus, produced before 866 (?) and here edited for the first time, survives in two fairly early manuscripts and was based on an uncial Greek codex (now lost) perhaps conveyed to the West by the same delegation which brought Paris. Gr. 437, containing the works of Pseudo-Denys which Scotus also translated, in 827 (?). It has a special interest in his own right, bus has, besides, some value in the establishment of the text.
