Mongolia's heritage of the twentieth century consists of a lost ideology and re-found freedoms. The symbols of the revolution are still in tact, but only the outside world seems to notice them. The country itself does not attach much value or significance to the revolutionary icons of yore, and there are hardly signs of retribution or iconoclasm. The new Mongolia is first and foremost a country that is trying to build a new existence on the remnants of seventy years of socialism.nBelgian photographer Jan Locus has captured the full dynamics of this heritage, reconstruction and renovation of city and steppe.
