Joan Miró - Victoria-Noel Johnson
The Essence of Things Past and Present
KORTE INHOUD
The prolific and unclassifiable universe of the painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramist Joan Miró invites itself to the BAM!
Behind the seemingly childish and innocent nature of Joan Miró's work lies a deep connection with Catalan tradition and the art of the past.
From his academic training through his first wild landscapes or still lifes to the influence of primitivism, Romanesque art or even Japanese calligraphy, "Joan Miró. The essence of things past and present" travels through over half a century of raw, sometimes wild, but always unexpected experimentation.
Around a hundred original works will be presented (paintings, gouaches, drawings, ceramics, sculptures, etc.), from prestigious international public and private collections, including the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró (Palma de Mallorca), the Fundació Joan Miró ( Barcelona), the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, the Picasso-Paris National Museum, the Maeght Foundation or the LaM.
