Günter Rössler - AugenBlicke - Matthias Rataiczyk
KORTE INHOUD
Günter Rössler played a significant role in shaping the history of East German photography. He became known for his nude photography, a genre that he introduced into the public discussion of the GDR for the first time as a serious and independent art form. They are quiet and powerful images whose timelessness and high aesthetic standards are still touching today. From 1954 to 1990, Rössler worked primarily for GDR fashion magazines such as Sybille and Das Magazin. His regular presence made him one of the most famous photographers in the GDR. But limiting Günter Rössler to his nudes would not do his work justice. His fashion and reportage photographs deserve the same recognition, even if they have so far been overshadowed by his engagement.
