Jan Kamman - Flip Bool; Lienke Moerman

fotograaf van het modernisme

KORTE INHOUD

In this book, photography historians Flip Bool and Lienke Moerman extensively describe and document the life and work of the Rotterdam photographer Jan Kamman, a pioneer of New Photography. This modernist movement advocated the most objective use of photographic possibilities while eschewing the artistic interventions and pretentiousness of the 'art photography' in vogue at the time. Kamman specialized in advertising and architectural photography. Kamman's archives were destroyed by the bombardment of Rotterdam in May 1940, which is one of the reasons why his work has not received as much attention as that of his kindred spirits Gerrit Kiljan, Paul Schuitema and Piet Zwart. Exhibition: Chabot Museum, Rotterdam, the Netherlands (24.06-03.11.2014).
