Die Recensio der Caesarhandschriften. - HERING, W.,

KORTE INHOUD

'This book was submitted to the University of Rostock as a thesis for a Lecture-ship in Classics. (...) Dr. Hering has made a close study of twelve manuscripts of the B.G., the B.C. and the three non-Caesarean 'Bella' (...). In his method he follows the little book 'Textkritik' by Paul Maas (...). His aim has been, and his result is, the 'elimination codicum descriptorum' (Maas, p.2). (...) Dr. Hering's 'Habilitationsschrift' is distuinguished by sound method, a keen sense of purpose, and admirable sagacity.' (W. MOREL in The Classical Review (New Series, 1965, pp.66-67).
