The division began its life in the Western Desert of Egypt; it went through all the varying changes of fortune in the desert campaigns; it fought its way across Africa and up to Italy; it landed in Normandy in June 1944 and fought its way across France, Belgium, Holland and Germany in May 1945. This is a fine record of which every officer and man in the Division can justly be proud.
